What Is Ladies Rock Camp?
If you've ever wanted to be in a band, wanted to learn an instrument, improve the skills you already have, or if you like being creative with other women, then Ladies Rock Camp is for you.Camp is held at the Madison Music Foundry (2818 Index Road in Fitchburg) and runs Friday and Saturday from 9am-5pm and Sunday, 9am-4pm. The Showcase is held 7pm on Sunday night at The Brink (701 E. Washington, Madison).
In one weekend, you get instrument instructions, songwriting lesson, band practice, and workshops — all culminating in a showcase concert.
Women age 19+ can register. NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY — just a desire to rock!
Instrument instruction: Instruments we offer are guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals. All experience levels are welcome. Instruction is held in small groups and led by experienced, enthusiastic female musicians.
Band Practice: Participants form bands on the first day and spend the weekend collaborating to write an original song.
Workshops: Workshops are relevant to women and music. Some possible topics are Self-defense, Songwriting, Punk Rock Aerobics, Stage Presence, Finding Your Style, etc.
Showcase: On Sunday at 7pm, the bands perform their songs! Invite your family and friends to The Brink!
Profits from these camps go to Girls Rock Camp! So come on and rock with us while supporting a great cause!
